Terry was born in Resolute Bay. His mother, Rynie Audla was relocated from Inukjuak to Resolute Bay in 1955, at the age of thirteen, with her parents, brother and sisters.

She’s (my mother) originally from northern Quebec, she grew up in the Inukjuak area and she was one of the people relocated up to Resolute back in 1955, when she was a young girl. Just hearing her speak about some homeland that I’ve never seen. Hearing her talk about how she misses picking berries, how she misses going out into the bushes growing up in the area that she did. Mentioning that she would like to see the sun in winter once again.”

“My grandma Minnie Allakarialak. She was the backbone of the community. She was the one that, in my opinion, single-handedly kept that town of Resolute from going into full and complete chaos.”
